Hi! Thank you for visiting! My name is Ben Reilly and I am a software engineer who mostly does full-stack web development type-stuff.
I have many interests but my current hobby is machine learning, especially natural language processing and image translation. I like machine learning because it reminds me of the magical, uncanny, and deeply weird phenomena we can find in computers and the internet.
I like to see the internet, even all of the cold, mechanical, commercial, and horrifying parts of it, as a massive communal art project. It's a kind of mirror, a simlacrum of the human world made by millions of people at once. By looking at the artifacts we make, we have the opportunity to learn about how we perceive the world.

Smart Face
I made this app to showcase clean, simple react code, rock-solid authentication, API integration, a node/express server, and small database. Just sign in and paste a link to a photo in the box. Smart Face will detect faces in it!
Nous
Nous (pronounced like news) intends to make the experience of reading the news a little less distracting, ugly, and infuriating. Tell it what news source you'd like to read and it will grab the stories from the front page and run them through a machine learning algorithm that makes a guess about the sentiment, or emotional content of a story. It then renders that emotional content as a color, giving you the ability to decide whether or not you'd like to choose to read the story. ***Due to API Query Limits, I can't yet launch a live Demo. Lennyroy Codes
Lennyroy codes is an online learning platform for basic web development and programming skills. The curriculum and the site itself are entirely developed by engineers who are either recently self taught or recent bootcamp graduates. We think this allows for a perspective closer to that of new learners. The current live version is still in alpha, we are currently rebuilding it as a react app.
